Kaitlyn wanted to have a Big Time Rush party theme. If you're not familiar with these handsome young fellows than you obviously don't have a little girl between the ages of 4 and 14. I think Brooklyn is the biggest fan in the house -- she calls them Ba Ba Ba Ba Boyfriend -- so cute! Even though we have loved BTR forever, they are still not mainstream enough to have birthday themed items. So I decided to get ahead of the game and order stuff on Ebay. I ended up ordering a sugar sheet that had a picture of BTR and said Happy 7th Birthday Kaitlyn. It was really cute and I was super proud of myself be so on the ball. I would check the mail every day looking for my cake topper. Then, after many days of waiting I decided to check the shipping -- DELIVERED. What do they mean delivered??? Then I looked at the address...Round Rock Texas!!! WHAT?!?!? I dumb ass had forgotten to change our address in Ebay and Paypal. Now
I was in panic mode -- 1 week till the party. You would think that it would be plenty of time to forward mail -- NOPE -- not for USPS. Long story short, the cake topper didn't arrive on time, so I quickly had to come up with a Plan B.
The party is quickly approaching and I am trying to figure out what it is we are going to do. In the mean time, Brooklyn developed a fever of 102 -- just what I need, a sick kid. We still had not picked a doctor for the kids but had to do so quickly. It ended up that she had a fever virus, nothing crazy, but it made for one very cranky baby. After a few days Brooklyn is feeling better and what do ya know -- Cameron is sick. Same thing as Brooklyn, but when Cameron is sick the nice, sweet, no talking back Cameron comes out. It is a terrible thing to say, but sometimes her sickness is so pleasant. I knew where this was going...I could see the pattern...Kaitlyn was going to be next. NOOOO!!! She has be party this week. Kaitlyn can't get sick!! We were in the clear...we had made it to the day before the party and Kaitlyn was lookin good! Then...she gets off the bus yesterday and looks terrible!! Droopy eyes, rosy cheeks, sad mouth...I asked her how she felt - like I didn't already know. Her response was so sad..." I don't want to feel sick, but I do." What do I do now? Cancel the birthday? See how she feels later and then decide?
Her fever never got over 100 so we decided that everything was fine, so we carried on about our lives as usual. I stayed up until 1am making cupcakes and assembling favors. I made Cherry Almond Vanilla Cupcakes and jabbed some pictures of BTR in them -- works for me!
I also get so tired of getting the "junk" in the favors bags, so we decided to give everyone a gift card to Dairy Queen. Each card had enough $$$ on it to get some type of frozen kid treat (dilly bar, starkiss pop, etc...) We just attached it to some bubbles with a cute little saying...You're so sweet, I think you deserve a treat!
Well the party was great, but I can't say the same for Kaitlyn. As the party progressed I could see she was starting to get very BLAH again. She was a trooper and made it through the party, but it looked like a truck ran over her. Happy Birthday Poor Sick Katie...
Love ya! Miss ya!
